From Boardroom Worriers to Sea Warriors
The desire to test ourselves against the elements seems to
be inherent in mankind. From our earliest beginnings our
ability to withstand and sometimes even succeed against
insurmountable challenges identified us as warriors and
survivors. Our success or lack thereof, dictated our status
in the crowd.
It seems not much has changed in the “civilized” world.
Now, instead of sharpening our sticks and stones, we sharpen
our wits in the corporate world and the masquerading within
the hierarchy often becomes the platform that evidences the
level of our success.
Many do extremely well in this known, corporate world and
the masks that are worn inform the world of the years of
training, education and determination.
So what happens when this fragile tower is tested against
the elements of nature, group dynamics and a reckless
disregard for apparent status?
Ted Horn’s early life depended on his ability to survive in
nature and tackle his way through hardships. Once he began
his engineering business the lure of the ocean, a yet
unknown personal frontier, sparked a passion for deep sea
fishing. It is here that John Dyer and Ted Horn shared many
experiences as the corporate executives and friends tested
the collision of these two worlds that Ted Horn cunningly
instigated in his quest for adventure that expanded the
monotony of the boardroom.
In the words of the CEO, this was the best laboratory
imaginable; a place to observe and participate in the
fascinating, ridiculous and dangerous escapades of men at
sea.
