About Us
Ajubatus, taken from the latin acinonyx jubatus (Cheetah) epitomises the freedom of spirit, grace and dynamism of our conservation initiatives. The concept of establishing a Research Foundation was conceived in the very heart of the African wilderness in early 1992.
Over the years, Ajubatus has come to mean different things to different people and yet our founding principles and ethic remains perfectly unchanged, the preservation and promotion of our wilderness heritage. To this end we have dedicated our efforts to initiatives that truly embrace the highest conservation ethics.
A World First was created in late 2003 when Ajubatus Marine and Wildlife Rescue took up residence at the Historic Seal Point Lighthouse in the sunny resort of Cape St. Francis on the Eastern Cape Seaboard. Not without its problems, the siting of a leading edge conservation initiative at a working lighthouse has afforded us the opportunity to create upliftment initiatives and empowerment of formerly disadvantaged communities. This has been achieved through the Ajubatus Skills Training initiative in the fields of Field/Marine Guiding and Hospitality.
